What’s New In CaptureCast Version 5

The new version of CaptureCast 5 builds upon the strengths of our recording and live streaming software stack. CaptureCast version 5 is chock-full of exciting upgrades outlined below.

Brand New User Experience

We designed all-new user experience with a modern interface to make managing a recorder even easier. We streamlined setup, audio & visual configuration, and template creation to make it easier.

New Live Streaming Engine

We overhauled the entire live streaming engine with a more efficient and robust streaming framework. The new live streaming engine can handle 1080P/60FPS/20Mb broadcast while concurrently recording HD videos on demand, additional encoding options, ability to stream to multiple service providers, and all new HTML5 live streaming player for confidence monitoring.

Audio Enhancements

We overhauled the audio capture library to autocorrect legacy audio systems that might introduce latency and issues during a live recording. The end result is recordings that are perfectly in sync with each other even when an audio latency is being introduced from 3rd party equipment.

Streamlined Software Updating

You can now run CaptureCast updates directly from our new user interface in a just a few clicks. When a new release is available, each CaptureCast unit will be able to download and auto-install the update.

New Video Player

We replaced our legacy flash video player for viewing recordings and monitoring live streams with an all-new HTML5 DASH player. The new video player has a better cross-browser viewing experience, supports local HD playback, and much more.

New Kaltura Scheduling & Integration updates

We updated our Kaltura integration to support new Kaltura scheduling features, metadata templates, and a more efficient multi-source uploader, and optimizations to Kaltura live streaming. The new live streaming update offers enhanced performance and amazing HD output for Kaltura webcasting.

Multi-Input Recording Enhancements

You can now group audio/video inputs together to run on their own schedule and execute their own custom recording workflows. This new update will allow you to run captures in multiple rooms using our Pro and XL recorders.

Vaddio Camera Controller

We expanded our integration with Vaddio to directly support pan, tilt, and zoom functions for any Vaddio RoboShot or DocCAM connected camera. The new Vaddio PTZ controls are built into the native CaptureCast live video player to allow seamless interaction in a live recording.

Updated API

We have added many new methods to our CaptureCast REST API to give you more control and functionally over CaptureCast.

Stay tuned for some new exciting updates coming by the end of the year!
